Nelson Mandela
I tried to do a portrait of Nelson Mandela, but it just didn't seem to work out. I took way too long to etch it, and the facial features just weren't staying put; it seemed like just when I drew his eyes the way I wanted them, they shifted ever so slightly. Oh well.

Chuck Norris
Made this for ESS Executive Chef Ryan Smith, who gets a latte every day. His response: "Chuck Norris is so bad a$$ that he showed up in my latte." ...or something like that.

Self Portrait (...or martial arts master)
This portrait started out as an attempt at drawing Bruce Lee. Halfway into it though, I paused and thought, "That really looks like me!" So I threw a dimple on his face and called it a self-portrait.

The King?
The guys who requested Weird Al came in this morning and said, "Elvis!" So this was my attempt...
I tried to get the little lip curl just right, but something's a bit off about his eyes and jawline, and the hair is nonexistent. And maybe his nose and mouth are a tad too big? Oh well.

Weird Al Yankovic
A group of guys regularly eats breakfast at the bar at ESS. Lately they've been issuing me some portrait challenges (Sponge Bob, Hitler). This morning it was Weird Al Yankovic. How'd I do?

Abraham Lincoln
One of the regulars at the coffee shop suggested that I do more portraits. Anyone up for the "Presidential Series" of latte art?
Since the Jesus latte I realized that I don't have to white out the entire top of the cup in order to draw portraits; I just have to have a big white portion in the center of the cup. That way, I can also use the crema from the outer ring to draw with, instead of using leftover crema from a shot glass.
And yes, I do look at a photo for reference while etching. I'm not artistic enough to come up with originals of famous people.
Oh, and sorry about the glare in the photo.
